Boygenius is a supergroup featuring Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus. The trio’s self-titled EP is filled with indie rock, folk, and emo influences, emotional melodies, and deeply personal lyrics. Julien, Phoebe, and Lucy each have a unique style and voice, but they come together in harmony to explore themes of love, loss, self-discovery, and friendship through their music. 

While brainstorming a direction for this poster design, I started thinking about trios, which led me to explore the concept of Boygenius as the Holy Trinity. Multiple songs on Boygenius’s EP and their first record touch on religion and spirituality (or lack thereof), so I wanted to lean into that by presenting Julien, Phoebe, and Lucy as a trinity on a backdrop of stained glass. I designed the stained glass patterns and typography based on images of stained glass church windows, stained glass windows in 1920s homes, and stained glass bar and pub signage.
